I use this carafe nearly every day to brew hot tea in, then I transfer it to my refrigerator overnight, and drink cold tea from it the next day. It amazes me that you can put boiling hot water directly into this, and it can totally handle it. We had a cheap plastic carafe with one of those tops that plugs like a lever; I didn't like it that much. Moreover, it was only about 30 ounces or so with a thin mouth to make refills a hassle. This carafe is beautiful, made of thick walled glass, holds 55 ounces, and what I love best about it is the top plug doesn't have to be removed when you pour. Pouring is very easy. This is a beautiful container. I find drinking more water is easy when the container is pretty. It's also easy to clean. The pour spout is great--no spilling. One of the things I like best is how a few lemon slices look floating in the water. Very modern looking, quite useful, and would be wonderful on a tray in a guest room beside the bed. I keep mine on my desk, and I drink water all day long, now, instead of tea or coffee. ----By Edward
